Make your offerings and other donations go further.
Gift Aid is a simple way for taxpayers to increase the value of their givings by just over 28%.
How does Gift Aid work?
If you are a Basic Rate taxpayer then every £10.00 you give (out of your taxed income) under Gift Aid, is worth £12.82 to the Church. (£10.00 + tax £2.50 + supplement 0.32)
What’s more, if you are a Higher Rate taxpayer, then not only does the Church get your £10.00 plus £2.82, you can claim back £2.50 from HM Revenue & Customs by way of tax relief.
So you pay a net £7.50 (£10.00 - £2.50)
and, the Church gets £12.82 (£10.00 + £2.82)
How do I start?
You can download the Gift Aid Declaration Form
here as an Adobe Acrobat PDF document.(
If you do not have Adobe Reader you can get the latest version free of charge by using the link.)The form should be printed out, completed and returned to our Gift Aid Convener, Mr Sandy McKenzie, 27 Norfolk Road, Aberdeen (tel.311261). Alternatively you can contact Sandy and he will supply you with a Gift Aid Declaration form to complete and will answer any questions you may have with regard to the scheme
What is my commitment?
Absolutely nothing other than to bring all of your offerings/donations under the Gift Aid scheme; and with retrospective effect where appropriate. Please note that your offerings need to be recorded if they are to qualify as Gift Aid donations and you should therefore consider making your offerings by way of the Freewill Offering weekly envelope scheme or banker’s order. Anonymous amounts in the open plate do not qualify.
If you are not already contributing under Gift Aid, then why not
