Alex Gamaliel Evangelista – Student Assistant Minister
Alex is a M.Div. candidate at Princeton Theological Seminary. He has completed two bachelor degrees (Biblical Studies and Theology) at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California. He was raised not far away from his alma mater, in Tulare, California.
His parents, Melody and Alejandro Evangelista, were both born in San Salvador, El Salvador. During the civil war in the eighties they sought refuge in Calgary, Canada where he and his sister Melissa were born. He has five siblings of whom he is the eldest. Two of them are in college, while the other three are in middle school and high school.
Alex started his 9-month placement with Mannofield on 21 August. While he is with us his placement will be intensive and challenging as the experience gained will be invaluable to him as he proceeds towards ministry.
He will shadow Keith initially and spend time reflecting with him on aspects of theology and ministry. Very quickly he will be leading worship, making pastoral visits and conducting funeral services on his own. He will also make himself acquainted with the business side of the Church of Scotland as he attends meetings both locally and city-wide.
Alex is also looking forward to visiting the organisations of the church and playing a part in the building up of stronger relations between these organisations and the church family.
We warmly welcome him to the Mannofield church community
