The Pickled Cow Drama Group was formed in October 2001. In that time, each year, we have performed two major productions, each comprising four performances live on stage raising £1,000’s for local charities in the process. All our performances are free, we just ask for a donation for our chosen charity at the door.
The highlight of the year is our annual pantomime. Each show has 4 performances including at Christmas a children’s matinee complete with a visit from Santa Claus. For Christmas 2010 we performed ‘A Christmas Carrot’ in which we retold the nativity story in a fun and modern way.
The Pickled Cow is free to join and is open to all young people from Primary 6 age upwards.

We exist to achieve the following aims.
-
To perform Christian drama in a fun way within a church environment.
-
To provide the means of bringing young people into the life & worship of the Church.
-
To teach young people about Jesus Christ and the Bible through drama.
-
To provide local outreach to the young people of the parish.
We meet every Thursday evening from 7.15 – 9.30pm. Currently in 2011 there are 18 members ranging in age from 11 – 17.
Our unusual name comes from the first line of the very first sketch we performed. The sketch had a spy theme and the line was a secret greeting between the 2 spies “The Pickled Cow is already blue”, the reply being “..and the red herring is best eaten with custard”
Our directors, producers, back-stage crew, technical and front of house crew are all volunteers.
